Euclid

Wide-field survey mission for dark energy, lensing and galaxy evolution.

Overview

ESA's Euclid mission images a third of the sky in visible and near-infrared light from L2, mapping galaxy shapes and distances. Its weak-lensing and clustering measurements aim to pin down the nature of dark energy and dark matter.

Key discoveries

  • First Euclid deep fields released from 2024
  • Early weak-lensing measurements over large sky areas
  • Growing catalogue of resolved galaxies for cosmology
